Ghosts That Never Dim
Why is it so that some things never leave you? They stay because they matter. We all have days when we feel stuck in time, stuck in some wasteland that never changes. Even though we keep on moving after the falling of some tears and crawling of some fears, there are some ghosts that never dim.
“Where Did The Time Go?” reflects on our mind’s magical ability to become a time machine. We all mourn our childhood, all the things that are somewhat lost to us. But even though the years have gone, our minds can take us back years and even remember words, faces, voices and rooms like it was yesterday.
Whenever I have my birthday coming up or Christmas is closing in, my mind travels in time. I think of the memories I once experienced, of all the people who were once present in my life, those who filled my life with good. But there came a time when that passed by, they changed, disappeared or died. So I long to relive those moments in time, to be close to those people and places once more.
“Am I Dreaming?” is about feeling overwhelmed with the ugliness of the world. Being tired of hearing perfect lies. Sometimes the world is just cruel and cold, today we can witness this fact all around us. We all need to hear the brutal truth once in a while, to truly connect and make a change for the better. Lately I have been thinking about how it feels like to have a dream. One aspect is the magic about it, to be filled with courage and hope for the future, the other aspect is difficult because failure is ever present. Will I ever wake up from the dream and realize it won’t come true? Will all my struggles turn to dust?
“Ghosts That Never Dim” EP collects sorrow, nostalgia and pain through three songs that delve into separate stories from my life. Some memories we carry with us are good, other memories leave a destructive mark - both the good and the bad stay with us, because all traces matter. Each room is the keeper of something meaningful and one day it may become valuable.
I think it can be easy to dismiss emotions that are considered negative, to deflect with superficial talk, jokes and laughter, trying to hide the pain. This is healthy to do sometimes, we all need a break from our chains. But there will be days when you have to acknowledge what your soul is carrying. There is immense power in this, in owning yourself completely.
These songs are tales from my life, my darkness, my gold. Now I wish to share them with all of you.
